just a heads up really, I stoopidly went to see this car yesterday.

http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/170153.htm

I know, I was asking for trouble as it sounds fishy but I thought id go take a look anyways.

5 hours there and back, 120 quid in fuel, the car looks like it had been sat in a yard without a roof on it!

also looked like it hadnt been washed for a year, thick black scum in the headlight bowls etc.

the guy who is selling it, on the advert his name is lee, but in reality his name is darren?

odd?

there is serious issues with the near side f and r suspension, making lots of squeeks and gridning noises (this was just from pushing down on the front and rear) and when driven there is a huge racket from the front end, soulds like its about to fall apart.

the seller Darren (or is it Lee?) stated its the first time this has happend (yeah mate, and I was born at night, not last night) and also the rear tires are shot, tax runs out end of next week has a few dings in the bodywork boot doest open propperly (it was open when he met me, at a random location I might add too) and I asked why it was open, his reply "oh i must have cuaght it as I was getting out just now" later I tried to open the boot and the lever was jammed tight, I asked "so you just caught yourself on that and opened it but me, a 16 stone bloke cant pull it open with force? your kidding right?" to which he changed the subject.

strangly enough he gave me the "i dont want people wasting my time" routine, to which I told him if it was advertised right he wouldnt be wasting either of our time.

also stated he sold the hardtop for 650 quid which he paid 450 for, cos hes quite the entrepronour but a quick search though his ebay history shows the hartop sold for 485 only last month?

now im getting text mssgs all night to this morning obviously becuase he doesnt need a buyer. . . . . . . . . .

also stated he needs another 5k for a new biz venture for which he has already loaned 250k, if thats the case why not just lend another 2% and pay an extra 3 pound per week whilst keeping the amazing car for himself?

it smelt fishy before I went to see it, after seeing it, its fishier than a prawns cock!

just thought id help any of the gang who where thinking of going to see it, in principle ive found out.

it has no history of milage, so assume its a 100k miles car (he stated on the ebay ad he too the dash of it)
it has no history of service, so assume its never had a service.
rear window seal at the roof is hanging off.
generally tatty.
drives like its about to blow up.

so all in all probberly a 3k car for the brave guy who wants to spend alot of time making it right.

and then youve got to mention cat d bald tires and no tax. . . . .

as I say, just thought id help somone else know what they are viewing if they want to take a punt on it wink

Indeed, top stuff! I was contemplating the idea of going to view this car, although as you said, the advert itself just seemed fishy ... Also the fact that it was registered CAT D, you just don't know what sort of accident it had, what was damaged and what has been affected long term.

Nevermind though, I found 'the one' this Sunday smile
