What scope of service do you expect from an indie?...Are you looking for quality or cheap,a full on dealer experience or Jeff in a barn?...
Im writing a business plan and would like as many sensible veiws as possible.

I'd expect a genuine enthusiasm for the marque, more detailed knowledge of individual models (because main dealers tend to concentrate on cars up to 5-6 years old, whereas indies get to see more of what happens when components start wearing out and reaching the end of their life cycle) and I'd expect prices to be significantly lower than main dealer.

I wouldn't expect shiny showrooms with pretty girls on the reception counter and men in sharp suits on the sales floor...

If you are talking about all Lotus models (since this is the general Lotus forum!) then you could do a lot worse than visit Paul Matty Sportscars to see his operation in action - he's probably the most successful and well respected Lotus independent in the country and I can't think of anything that I'd like to see him do differently. If you're thinking more of Elises, then maybe use Horizon Motorsport as your benchmark?

edited to add... I see you're Chepstow? If you can match Paul Matty, you might get a bit of business from me! wink
Not the best location in the country, though... easy access to PMS just up the M5/M50 form your catchment area, so you will be going head-to-head with the best Lotus Independent in the country!

Looking at your profile checking out your resume.
You look like youve got what it takes.
What are you waiting for theres enough punters out there that need their cars looking after by someone they trust.
For me its the mechanic/man that fixes the car not the snobbish plush surroundings.
obviously people need to feel their pride and joy are in safe hands, proper tools and up to date equipment used etc etc.

Big Al.
