So, what do I look for? (I've got a 2005 S2 Touring Pack in mind with Pipercross filter, Stage 2 sports exhaust, FLSH & 12,500 on the clock)

Most importantly.....are they reliable?

I've owned a quick Westfield & a very quick Sylva Striker in the past so I should be able to cope with the performance but SWMBO will drive aswell.

Any other problems to look for that I wouldnt read on a non-Lotus forum?

Thanks for your help.

Yes, I'm sure! I was mentioning the '7' type cars because I'm presumming they are in a similar league with regard to performance.

Well, the 1800cc Toyota engine is a proven piece of kit and has made all the Elise/Exige models much more reliable, especially over the old K series Rover engine. The Exige S hasn't really been out long enough to be accurate with reliability issues but so far (about a year) the Roots style supercharger hasn't had any adverse effect on the engine/car or components.

You are right in your assumption about similarities performance and handling wise, when I drove it, it was superb (and I ride a motorbike). I think 0-60 speeds are about 4.1 and 0-100 is 9.8. They have also thought about the performance aspect as it does have a red line at 8000 but you do get a 2 second burst to 8500....but it won't hold it, for reliability reasons.

Here's an independant review.

Hope thats ok.
