Questions to ask when buying a Lotus Elise?

Have a look in the Elise forum (this is the general Lotus forum) - there's a sticky at the top of the list of topics on buying advice which should cover most things.
In terms of trustworthy dealers, whereabouts in the country are you? There are good and bad main dealers, but PistonHeads has a 'no naming and shaming' policy, so the best you can hope for is a positive recommendation rather than 'So-and-so are hopeless, so don't touch them'.
Personally, I've had a good relationship for a number of years with Paul Matty Sportscars (Bromsgrove, West Mids), Christopher Neil Sportscars (Cheshire) and Bell & Colvill (Surrey) but for buying there are plenty of good cars around, both private and trade sales, once you are clued up on what to look for.
