Just seen a nice 1968 Series 2 Seven 1600 Cross Flow. Bit it was all fiber Glass, including the Bonnet, The main tub was what looked like a one piece molding.

I thought Series 1 2 and 3 were ali, and that the only cars with a fiber glass tub was the S4, can any one tell me what is right, did Lotus ever make a fiber glass S2 or is this some one passing off a kit body.
Thanks

I agree that the Series 4 was a glass fiber body ,but the Series 1,2 and 3 where ali as you stated . With out actually seeing it could it be a Westfield ? They use that for there body covering .

There are plenty of good reference books available on the Lotus and Caterham Sevens if you care to follow up on this car . Some provide VIN numbers on each Series.

I suggest the LOTUS SEVEN , Restoration, Preparation, Maintenance by Tony Weale and Caterham Sevens by Chris Rees.

As george says, there's a good chance that it's a pre-litigation Westfield body. Lotus didn't produce fibreglass main tubs for the Series 3 Seven.

You guys confirm what I thought, saw this car at a show in Kuala Lumpur yesterday, had to keep quit, as I didn't think it was real, but the guy bought in in UK and impored it here as a1 968 Lotus Seven Series 2, at a cost os 18K pounds, so he wont be happy if I tell him.

Tax dodge? Beleive Malaysia has a high import duty on foreign cars. Maybe there is an exemption for "historic" vehicles?

OTOH, it is said of Sevens/Caterfields etc that the only bit that isn't repairable is the chassis plate.
