Hi folks,
I'm well impressed with the little elan, great little car.

Couple of questions though...

Can anyone point me to a supplier or second hand source for a handbook?

The drivers seat has sunk a little, so intend to swap passenger and drivers side. There are no pretensioners so it's only the knurled wheel, and that's no problem. Is it just 4 bolts holding them in?

Or.....if anyone knows of any other seats please give me a shout.

Thanks.
Mike.

You can still buy the diaphram for the seats (which would have collapsed on your car - did the previous owner like pies?) and it's a simple repair once you've taken the seat out.
It's not an expensive item and any reputable dealer/specialist will be able to supply you.

Not sure about the owner's handbook, but the full workshop manual is available as a download from www.lotuselancentral.com

(PM me if you're having trouble finding it)

Thanks Jon, much appreciated.

Brief update....

Just bought a chip to take it to 200bhp nuts And popped into the lotus dealer, bought a seat diaphragm with 10 clips.

Forty quid...yikes How cheap is that.....

All the best folks, I'll keep you posted...

No problem. I have a load of info I can give you. Probably best to PM me your address and I'll post you a CD full of useful stuff (all of which I believe to be in the public domain, I should stress).

As with any chip tuning, I would strongly recommend going to a tuner who does a rolling road remap rather than using an off-the-shelf one-size-fits-all (sic) chip as one size certainly does not fit all, especially when you're talking about an almost 20% hike in power.
Besides, from what I understand of the Elan there is a boost limiter that has to be circumvented in order to get 200bhp and there are fuelling issues too.
Best check on www.lotuselancentral.com before using the chip - don't forget that the Distance Selling Regulations mean that you could get your money back if you do some research tonight and decide you want to send it back tomorrow.

Thanks Jon, I'll pm you my address.

The chip is one that the boys on lotuselancentral all rave by, it's the everest chip that apparently lots have used and swear by....maybe 200bhp is slightly optimistic, but I'll suck it and see. If it causes problems I'll whip it out.

Great little whizzers though aren't they.
