Spend your money on a VXT then invest in a little tuning to increase power and torque beyond that of the VXR. This will work out cheaper than buying a VXR.... I know we've done it. Have a chat with Chris at Regal Auto Sport and mention the Yellow VXT from Sussex 
As for comparsions with the 111r - the VXT gives a completely different driving experience and is more readily compared to a supercharged Exige (S2 or Cup 240). We have a Cup 240 and driving both the VXT and the Exige back to back, I would say that the choice of Lotus or VXT is down to driving style, and less importantly looks. The VXT is a bit poorly finished inside, whereas Elise/Exige tend to look a little neater.
