Road & Tack is one of the leading US car magazines and over the years they have been enthusiastic about Esprit, Elise and Exige all of which have been sold in USA. But oh dear, they've just found out about the Europa S and its Business Class aspirations. A full colour write-up of a UK car concludes,

Central locking failed. The car locked itself with driver outside and engine running.
There's a substantial sill to cross on entry.
Interior as a whole poorly executed.
Ergonomics haphazard; switchgear clunky.
Intolerable tyre noise.
Engine's turbo hisses like a snake pit.
Very odd torque curve.
Fuel range only 200 miles.

"All the competitors (Cayman, Z4, 350Z) are better made, more reliable and perform just as well. The car fails to live up to Lotus' Business Class pretensions. A tragedy, really, especially for a marque with such a storied history as Lotus."

Unfortunately an article like this is immensely damaging to the Lotus marque whether or not the car is on sale in USA. It enhances the perception of unreliability and spoils the image of Lotus as a builder of sharp edged sports cars. A great shame and raises real questions about Lotus' current direction.

They are horrifically ugly, do not serve their purpose well enough, and aren't very quick. How they sold any at all I'm astounded.
