Currently considering an Elan+2 but it's allegedly on its original 36 year old chassis. This deeply concerns me as I had an S4 DHC 15 years ago and that chassis failed then. What hope is there for this one?
Car on E-bay and ends wednesday am so need to know quick. My gut feeling is walk away.
Advice please

I haven't seen this car, nor the ad, but it sounds like this is the same car that has been discussed on the lotueselan.net/forums. The advice was to walk away. To many hiiden treasures may be found. A new galavanized chassis is a must for these cars, ao are new sills and seat belt anchorages.

Take a look at www.lotuselan.net/forums - choose Plus2 to see the discussion.

thanks b-havers.
posted this last night after a last minute "should I or shouldn't I" moment, it was close to home and looked ok in the pics, but my mind keeps going back to the Elan S4 dhc I bought in 1988 with a "new chassis" that broke up in 1989 after the new paint gave out! THat was 15 years ago...
Might consider this one if I can get a look at it but otherwise walk away
That we site you referred me to seems useful if I actually get a car though
Thanks again
