Brakes squeaking!
Discussion
Any news on this as mine also chirrip away at low speed. (sometimes)
In use they are silent with not a squeak.
I have checked the pads which are OK a good 5mm
jetwashed them with clean water - stops for two days.
So my next job is new pads if I cant find any reason.
Its a 2001 S2 Elise with cross drilling

This is a common perceived 'problem'
you need to bed the pads in properly
Instructions from Nick Adams (Lotus engineer)
find a quiet stretch of road
go up to 30mph and brake to a standstill as hard as you can
repeat 3x
go up to 70mph and brake again (emergency stop style)
repeat 3x
on last occasion pull over and hold the brake pedal down as hard as you can for as long as you can (until leg hurts)
this gets the pads etc bedded in properly and gets rid of the squeal - Ive done this from new and from every new set of pads Ive had on my S2 and it cures the squeals nearly straight away - if they re-occur (after a few 1000 miles of light use) then just re-do the above
