Child Seat for S2

I'm sure there are plenty of people who take their kids out, in fact I think shangani takes his little girl out in his car in a childs seat. Might be worth dropping him a note via profile.

Hi
we used a Britax Freeway car seat in our S2. A bit of a squash but it certainly felt secure.
Try it out first! Halfords will let you take it out to the car park.

I work for them crash testing the seats & a freeway may fit into an elise but an 8yr old will not fit into this seat. Most booster seats should fit & this would be ideal for an 8yr old.
I have tried booster seats, but it is trying to find one with a narrow enough base to fit snuggly / safely into the S1 or S2 seat, and ensuring the lap belt is in the proper posistion. The irony is an older toddler fits better in the seat without the booster, but you if under 12 or the height constraint, you are the wrong side of the law...
Tried an evolva in my S2 at the weekend, was too wide at the base to sit properly, sat perched on the 'wings', not a good fit. I looked at the Britax website and it did mention that it should fit a 2000 elise, not sure what that means but S1 seats are different to early S2s, later S2s are different again.
I have tried most of the seats mentioned as 'fitting' the elise and many other besides so far none of them do!
As per the earlier post I bought a booster seat from Halfords (buy one get one free). These are a generic product and there were at least 3 different designs: 1 without arms; 1 narrow; 1 wide. The narrow one fits perfectly and has arms to allow the belt to pass through the seat as well. I have designed, but not yet made, a simple device to clip over the shoulder of the seat to allow height adjustment of the belt.
So after many years searching I am on the verge of a solution, albeit only suitable for a child 4 years plus (Group 2,3). I was unable to find any seat group 0,1 which correctly fitted the elise seat. All high back seats I tried were either:
Too wide on the base;
Too wide at the back;
Too tall (created a large void behind the seat due to the bucket shape to the elise seat).
Be safe, accept no compromises.
Regards, Neil

I have just ordered a Britax Evolva 123 for my partner’s car and on the website they have a seat finder for your car I found Lotus Elise and it recommended Evolva 123... Hopefully next week I will have a S2 and I will be trying this for fitting and will let you know how I get on.
This was fitted into my s1 at work (Britax)& i can assure you that this particular seat DOES fit into the s1.
