I have fitted a S2 M100 Elan engine in my 1990 SE. The engine came complete with a starter catalyst attached just under the turbo.
Has anyone fitted a S2 engine in an SE and if so how did you remove the starter cat, is there a bolt on straight through pipe for the SE that can replace this cat. I bought the car with this engine fitted but not piped up so I cannot view the original engine to check.

Also has anyone fitted different seats in their M100 if so what did you fit and how did you modify the runners/frame or car to achieve this?

Dont know about the cat, but re: the seats, Z3 seats go in ok if you drill a couple more holes apparently,... or so say Douglas Valley breakers.
Also, check out this weeks cover car at www.lotuselancentral.com for an elan with full on sports seats.
Click the pic of the white car.

GR, I think you have a few options: 1 - remove the starter cat, hollow it out and re-fit it (seewww.lotuselancentral.com for instructions) or 2 - buy the equivalent non-cat piece from an SE in a scrap yard. I am fairly certain it's interchangeable and that the downpipe connection is the same on all the cars. 3 - eliminate that piece completely (as it goes down to a 2" bore) get a full custom 2.5" exhaust made right from the Turbo (plus a BBR fuel cut-out-eliminator)and have yourself a very quick Elan! Laurence PS. I have an S2 so would be interested in any surplus S2 bits you don't need (Inc the stater cat if you do remove it).

Apparently he re-used the original seat runners and just did some re-drilling to fit to the new seats.

That car has apparently also been lowered at least 2", negotiating speed ramps in the road must be a challenge!

I'm not sure I like the DVD screen in place of the rear view mirror.
