I seem to have an over reving elise s1. It just started today as i came of the motorway.. Every time i put the clutch in to change gear, it stays reving quite high at around 2000 revs! The only way to bring them back down is to rev it even higher, then they drop right down. It does it every time i change gear & if i slow down in fourth to around 25mph, the car tries to speed up without me actually touching the accelerator. Please help....

First suspects would be either the notorious plastic throttle body sticking (cure is to replace it with a metal 'Sport 160' throttle body), or a dodgy IAC (Idle Air Control) valve. Either component is dead easy to replace yourself with nothing more than a screwdriver.

You might also want to try resetting the throttle as described in your Owner's manual: with ignition on, but engine not running, press the accelerator slowly all the way to the floor 5 times.

No, not with fuel injection - it just resets the ECU so that it 're-learns' the IAC position. It shouldn't be necessary, unless you have fitted a new IAC or throttle body, but it sometimes helps clear minor glitches.
