Lotus launches summer festival

Fun stuff to celebrate three new cars

Lotus Cars is to host its biggest ever promotional campaign in the UK under the banner of the "Lotus Summer Festival". The five-week long festival will be hosted by the 26-strong dealer network in the UK and is open to all.

For each of three special feature weekends, a different model will be cast into the limelight, starting with the new entry-level Elise S, which makes its UK dealer debut on 12 and 13 August 2006.

Attention will then turn to the new 218 hp supercharged Lotus Exige S on 2 and 3 September 2006, before reaching a climax with the launch of the brand new Lotus Europa S on 16 and 17 September 2006.

Lotus reckons it'll be promoting the event heavily including viral advertising and a direct mail campaign targeting over 60,000 potential customers, who will then have the chance to drive a Lotus. Visitors to the dealer network will be immersed further into the Lotus experience with a range of activities at individual dealerships, including barbecues, live music and remote control car racing for the next generation of Lotus owners -- actual activities may vary from dealer to dealer.

Lotus manager Heathcliffe Robertshaw said: "It is a true celebration of a unique event in Lotus history with no fewer than three new models being launched in just five weeks over the summer. These span from the ultra extreme Exige S through the fantastic value proposition of the Elise S to the refined sophistication of the new Europa S. We expect it to be a very busy five weeks!"

Full details for visitors, including a film about the Elise S, can be found here.

they better do that, cause then people can hold their money in the pocket to order one up front...when the car is to their likings ofcorse, but a BMW V8 and sexy sporty bodywork can do a lot and they learned from the past I hope and know what they are up to in carland...you have to come with something at least as fast as the others and reliable too

Couldn't agree more. There must be a market for a "low-fat" Esprit to counter all these lardy "sportscars" the mainstream manufacturers come up with. Please show to the world with the new Esprit what a decent chassis with a sexy power to weight ration can do...
