I was out with the tvr today, and happened accross a very tasty 91H lotus turbo esprit.I pulled up along side of him.A quick glance from both of us and we both knew the race was on.He pulled away first,my god was that car quick,in pulling away he was reduced in my windscreen to a dot.put the power on in the tvr and by now im munching serious tarmac. We approach our first roundabout, and he is filling my windscreen,he puts the power down and he becomes a dot again, again i wind the V8 up and i begin to bear down on him like a tornado bomber on its target.Second roundabout coming up and im right behind him,out of the roundabout and hes away again, while i struggle to get my back end in shape.Im soon up behind him again.By this time are we approaching the end of our race.We pull up along side one another exchange a wave and a little chat about our cars and we part company.Im stirred once again by the lotus. Some one was only telling me the other day how a tvr would beat a lotus in a straight line, but a lotus would leave a tvr through the twistys.By god they were right.

How do you think you would have faired against a V8 Esprit? 350hp from the esprit versus 264 from the SE might have put you on a level playing field? Well level in the straight line dept anyway :-)

What TVR do you drive? Sounds like the Esprit did very well in the straights too. I don't know whether it would compete with a Cerbera though, I watched Clarkson speed program and it stormed away. n fatc I was pleased because it thrashed the Porsche and Ferrari, not that I have anything against them, lovely cars but the TVR's a Brit so I'm biassed.
I have an S4 Esprit and it goes like a bullett. I confess I have an uprated torque chip that gives 310 hp, a sports exhaust and a high flow filter so it breathes a bit easier. Can't drive for toffee though...
