When people ask what's so great about a Lotus I reckon these two pix are classics. The JPS livery was so "right" for the cars. I'm sure I've seen an Elise running around in the same color scheme which also looked fantastic.

Acknowledgement to Jeremy Walton's "Esprit complete story (1991)" for the pix.

Here we go with an illustration of what an early Turbo might have looked like in JPS rather than Essex livery. I like it.

Bob,
very nice.

However, I don't think it's really an Elise in JPS colours; it's a black Elise with gold wheels. Surely JPS colours require some gold pinstriping and a bit of understated boasting about F1 championship wins (the laurel leaves on the front wing are a bit too understated).

JPS M100..?

Seen at Donington Lotus show this year. Owner is a member of the Lotus Elan Central forum. The car is beautifully presented. I especially liked the 'turbo elan' stickers on the sides to ape the 'turbo esprit' legends on it's big brother.

To say "it's just a black Elise with gold wheels" isn't correct.

The Elise S1 Type 79 and the Elise S2 Type 72 were both special editions doffing their caps towards the F1 cars. See www.elises.com for full spec, but suffice to say that they were not allowed to put the full JPS livery on them (for whatever reason), and so did these 'heritage' editions with gold wheels & gold vent trims, black and gold interiors, and gold lettering on the external decals.
