Could anyone shed some light on to how much the "B" service is + cambelt change on a 1999 elise s1 please?

It varies, but a B service with an independent specialist will probably be in the region of £200. The B service plus a cambelt change is basically the same as a C service (only other difference between B and C is that the fuel filter should be changed as well). Cost of a C service will be about £450.

Bottom line is that you need to find your local specialist and ring them for prices, though - it's no good me quoting you prices for the nearest place to me, in the East Midlands, if you live in Hampshire!

You might be better asking on SELOC, since it is the SOUTH EAST Lotus Owner's Club.

Yeah thats true. Cam belt change is really for my own peace of mind considering it hasnt been changed in the last 4 years. I think i'll end up buying an elise with slightly higher miles so that things like cambelt etc has already been replaced.
cheers.

Can't recommend Miles & Ian enough for this kind of work. A B+ belt with them should come out at less than £400 if nothing else is required. If you see a good low miles car that needs this done, just haggle £500 off the asking price and book it in.

Thanks for the advice everyone, i tried knocking £500 of the price of the car, but the guy wouldnt budge, so i walked away. Id prefer one that had just been serviced, so i dont have all that to do for a while.

I`ve had a lot of work done by a company called Tech-speed in the midlands near Gaydon, they are a touring car prep company and they Know ther stuff about he k series (they did a lot of work with xpower Mg) they seem to be about 1/3 cheaper than a lotus dealer and far more helpful. They have a web site but best phone them the only down side is they are v busy during the touring car season.
