Europa wheel/tyre sizes.

Is there anyone out there with a Europa, who has experience of fitting oversize wheels and how this affects handling? I'm thinking of fitting 16" rims & low profile tyres so I have more choice vis-a-vis rubber. As long as I end up with the same tyre OD, so I don't mess up the steering geometry, the only disadvantage I'm aware of is a harsher ride...but I'm no expert. Any advice?
