I've currently got the rear clamshell of my S1 Elise and before it goes back on I thought I'd change the bowden cable which as we know are prone to rust and subsequent failure.

I pulled the inner wire rope out of the sleeve then discovered that the cable is swaged into the handle unit. The end of the cable was quite fraid so it won't now feed back into the sleeve.

Does anyone know where I can get a new cable/handle unit?

Your help much appreciated.

Go to a mountain bike shop and buy a gore-tex brake cable set... Its the same type of cable but lined and fully sealed from the elements, will last for loads longer and shouldn't be much more hassle to fit! I'm planning to as soon as this one gets sticky..

You can't disconnect just the cable, the handle is swaged to the end. AFAIK Lotus is your only bet - about £20 IIRC. PAck it with plenty of grease at both ends.
