According to autoweek.nl Volkswagen isn't going to buy Proton.
Financial problems of VW are the reason they can't buy a share of the maleisian company.

Just had a couple of new tyres fitted to my V8-GT and my MOT done(which it passed with no problems) at my local dealer. Had a good chat with the Sales Manager while I waited. He indicated things are looking good at Lotus, with the Elise still out performing its business plan (he was extremely chipper as he had exceeded his forecast for this year), especially in the States and Group Lotus heading back into the black. He also said that the Europa GT seems to have found its niche - he has 15 deposits for 12 cars hes been allocated from July. All in all a very happy man.

It would seem to be rather imprudent of Proton to consider selling now, just when things are looking up. Or perhaps they take the view that now is a good time to sell......

Lotus ought to advertise the Europa at www.rnib.org.uk or www.guidedogs.org.uk I'm sure they'd attract a lot more customers.
