Sad news for the whole Lotus family!


Gérard Crombach a.k.a. Jabby Crombach passed away the 18th November;
He was a personal friend of Colin Chapman and Jim Clark!

founder of the french magazin "Sport Auto", and founder of the Lotus Trophy,

Author of the book: "COLIN CHAPMAN: THE MAN AND HIS CARS"
(GERARD "JABBY" CROMBAC, Foreword by ENZO FERRARI)

he got Clarks Elan some 30 years ago, preserved it all those years, but it was for sale 13th december 2005 Artcurial France more can be found here:

Just finished reading his book while I was stuck in Iraq for 6 months. Absolutly fasinating,learnt so much about the marque. It was rubbish being separated from my Lotus for that long, really cheered me up. I was gutted when I saw on pistonheads he had passed away, as he was a link to the Lotus of old that has made it what it is today.

Yes you are right, he even negociated with Renault for the Europe-engines!

I posted the same thread on the Elan forums, but didn't get a reply?
