Hi guys,

After many months dreaming about buying an Elan and wondering whether I could afford it, I decided to take the plunge and go for it. I found a great-looking racing green Elan from 1990 for just under 5k.

It does now need a service and I was wondering if anyone had any advice on good garages I should go? I live in Hertfordshire, so anywhere in Herts, Bucks, Oxon or North London would be great. I found out that the one in St.Albans which used to be a Lotus garage, now only does Ferraris. :( Any other advice is also very welcome. This site has already proven to be very useful so far!

Cheers,
Matt

A few choices

Steve Williams
Sinclaires
Lakeside

There are some dealer (and independents) reviews over at www.southrun.co.uk/dealers.php

But its probably best to get yourself over to seloc www.seloc.org and join the forums there (free) for more local chat and advice.

We went to visit London Lotus in St Albans a couple of months ago, and it is indeed a Ferrari and Maserati dealer now, but there is a Lotus dealer (Merritts) in Amersham. I can't comment on servicing or anything, I'm just telling you that's where the nearest is now.

Good choice, have you visited www.lotuselancentral.com

The M100 folks mostly hang out there.
