DeLorean at number 2 as well, bearing in mind the links it has with the Esprit

What links? sorry I'm an Elise boy - not too knowledgable about the Esprit.

The scene at the end of the submarine sequence, where the Esprit drives out of the sea to the strains of the Bond theme, with Roger Moore dropping a fish out of the window, is a truly classic and iconic Bond moment.

Ever since seeing that as a kid, I always wanted a white Esprit, but having read about the problems the early cars had, plus the difficulties in now finding a good one and restoring it, I'm not sure it's something I want to do.

However, with interesting rumours about the new Esprit seeping out now and again, it may be that I'll be able to PX the Elise and fulfil my ambition. I'll take one in white, with chrome alloys and "submarine pack"

edited to add - it appears that Lotus designed the DeLorean's double-Y-shaped backbone chassis. The front Y housed the luggage compartment and fuel cell, while the rear Y housed the Pugeot/Renault/Volvo 2.8l V6. The GRP lightweight structure is plonked on top, then the familiar stainless steel body panels

DeLorean showed off his design at a motorshow and quickly realised that he had very little time to get the car out, so shopped around for a quick fix. Chapman saw the opportunity of government cash and cobbled together something related to the Esprit design, which had only recently been completed.

Not really Chapman's finest hour, the whole DeLorean business.
