Hey All,

Have found an 111R (‘06) which is in budget. It’s mileage is 76k, but the speedo shows 24Kish due to a speedo change. Does this sound legit?

I would have thought with the speedo you could set it to the correct mileage of the engine, but want to be 100% before I get too serious on this.

Thank

Unless the seller can provide decent evidence to back this up, the I would walk away unless very cheap.

Wouldn't worry me in the slightest if the documentation is all in order and the MOT history / mileage correlates. Clocks can get changed for legit reasons,
perhaps the person that fitted it didn't know how, or even if it could be corrected. If everything else checks out go or it, and then get the clocks set to the correct mileage.

I had a 111R the dash did have some marks on it. The fuel gauge had”pixelated” if I remember correctly. It never overly bothered me so I didn’t change it.

But that could be a genuine reason why the dash was changed in the one you are looking at.

At that mileage and that age, with a 'story', it would have to be a very cheap car.

Still worth considering as mileage isn't always a bad thing, but generally when buying it's good not to be too committed to one car.

Lotus community is pretty tight knit. If it's not the current owner that made the changes you can likely find out more info, or previous owners on the fb groups.

The Stack unit was replaced on my S1 under warranty after around 2k miles.

If you know the genuine mileage then it doesn't sound as if someone's trying to pass it off as something it's not. You can check the MoT history online, if it ties up with what you've been told then if the car is what you want, go for it.

Does the MOT trail match the claims? Speak directly to previous owner? If seller won’t cooperate walk away.
