Elan M100, opinions please

Been sitting in one of these today at Kimbolton country fayre. Thanks to the kind gent who took time out to let us do that (in case he ever visits here!)

Anyway, Mrs T is very comfortable in it (she's 5.0' short with short legs) and it's looking like a potential purchase. Can any M100 SE / S2 owners give us some opinions on best ones to buy for around £10k and what to look out for specifically?

For £10k you should be after an S2 with circa 50-60k miles in private sale, which if it has Full Service History and if its been well looked after should give very little trouble.

With the S2 most of the M100's few known faults were corrected, such as Rusty Wishbones (costly to replace) became glavanised on S2

Best advice I would give is always HPI a car (there are a lot of CAT D recorded cars out there) and find a car that is visually in excellent order with lots of supporting history, and avoid the dreamers who think their car is worth £15k!... they are out there!
