The new model 131 is rumoured to be revealed today at 9am!

If so, they know how to keep a secret. I don’t think there have been any genuine leaks at all? Just shonky renders based on Bahar fantasy cars and a couple of wide-arched Evora mules spotted.

From what I’ve read it’s going to be a development of the Evora chassis with a two-seater Evija-style body and still running on (updated) Toyota power. Approx £75k?

Fingers crossed crossed that this is going to be a great car. My guess it will drive and look a lot like a junior Mclaren 570 and be quite different to a Cayman. Mclaren and Lotus values are so closely aligned I genuinely think it’s going to cause each of them problems in defining a clear USP in the future.

I also think that the Evora, Exige and Elise will all be out of production by the end of this year.

Thoughts?

(If they just reveal another Elise special edition I’ll be upset)

Oh wait, not quite what I thought - looks like it's an announcement of a joint venture with Renault?

It’s likely that Lotus will look to move beyond the firm’s current price range of between £45,000-£85,000 in order to increase profits and move the brand into a more desirable area of the market.
That'll be outside my budget then!

So the announcement with Alpine is interesting if you like Electric powered cars. Where does that leave the Type 131, still no news? Still ICE hopefully.

From my conversation with Jamie at B&C this week the 131 is alive and kicking. Between the exige and Evora. Perfect for me!

the fact that Lotus have trade marked the name, so relevant to the thread and possible new vehicle name and when you make a plate up EMllRA G reads very similar to me

Yes, what do you know? I fancy something to replace both my 911 and Elise and I'm hoping the 131 will fit the bill. Feel free to email me if it's a 'secret'!

No more than others have said really. I was joshing with AndyGT430 about his mis-spelt number plate on a model name that isn't public (although I bet Jamie has spilled the beans).

Anyhows what I have heard is the new car is quite Evora-ish in size has the Merc 4 cyl motor plus auto box and also a V6 (which I suspect might still be Toyota, but could well be wrong) with a manual box. I presume it's a new manual box to go higher on the bhp. It'll be plush inside made from Merc bits and will compete with the Cayman (there I've said it).

So Lotus driving dynamics with german bits, trim, toys and novelties (presumably HVAC as well).

But that's a lot of surmise. I think the spy shots will start in March/April ish and the launch will be in June.

No interest in a more German Lotus, Astons have also lost a lot of appeal since switching to Merc engines and interior switchgear. Would rather have a final Elise instead. Lotus won’t make anything like it again.

4 cylinder Merc motor? Surely a Volvo one would be more likely? (Both owned by Geely).
