Lumsden / Riley Lotus Elite Le Mans 1959

The Clubs Parade, for Lotus cars between 1955 - 1980, offers you the chance to drive over 3 laps of the full closed Le Mans circuit just hours before the race proper starts.

The package includes hospitality over the race weekend which is shared with the drivers and participants in the Legends Race and the Classic Cavalcade, your chance to rub shoulders with current and past stars of the motor racing world.

LOTUS 50TH ANNIVERSARY @ LE MANS TIME TABLE

Thursday 16th June

Le Mans Lotus Run - The meeting point for any Lotus wishing to go down in run with fellow owners will be the (La) Baie de Somme service station on the A16 E402 south bound after junction 24 and the last service station before Abbeville.

Cars joining the run need to meet at the service station between 1400 and 1500 which gives you time to fill-up and have a bite to eat before the off.

Friday 17th June

The Classic British Welcome (CBW) features the Lotus marque in 2005 in commeration of the Lotus 50th Anniversary at Le Mans. SELOC are the organising club for the CBW this year so make sure that you visit CBW sometime on the Friday to view the exhibition cars - see [url]www.classicbw.org[/url] further details.

0800 - 0845 FREE BREAKFAST! 90 free breakfasts available on a first come first serve basis to card holding members of SELOC, Club Lotus and Lotus Club International. Early birds will be able to view the unique display of Lotus cars, many with a Le Mans history, in the exhibition hall at the Classic British Welcome before it opens to the public at 0900.

1100 - Johnny Herbert + one other special guest, both have strong connections to Lotus, both have driven F1 for Lotus and both have won at Le Mans. Mr Herbert will be signing autographs and generally having a good look around at all the Lotus and other cars on display.

1400 - onwards SELOC Drivers Parade cars start to line up, the marque is represented by 50 years of the marque from a Lotus 6 to the lastest Elise, with rare Lotus cars in the form of the type 23 and the Esprit GT1 - see the [url]www.seloc.org/lm05.php[/url] for a list of the cars taking part in the exhibition at CBW, the Drivers Parade, the Clubs Parade, Classic Cavalcade and the Legends Race.

1600 - Drivers Parade cars including the Lotus cars depart for Le Mans City Centre.

1800 - Grande Parade des Pilotes, Le Mans City centre support the 12 Lotus cars taking part.

CBW also features food and drink, live music, car washing facilties, an air conditioned cinema showing Lotus films, ACO ticket office, motorsport art exhibitions and more, as well as been the meeting point for a number of the super cars taking part in this years drivers parade, from the Aston Martin DB9, the Mosler through to the new Tuscan Convertible.

SELOC will have a stand with membership packs, including the latest magazine, for sale.

Lotus through Lotus Club International will also have a stand selling a whole range of merchandise from t-shirts to sunglasses.

Saturday 18th June

0700 - 0830 Clubs Parade features a dozen historic Lotus cars including a number of Lotus XI's.

0930 - Classic Cavalcade cars leave CBW for the Le Mans circuit, includes the Lotus 9 that Colin Chapman drove at Le Mans in 1955, the first time the car has been back on the track since 1955 and the Elise GT1, driven by Ed Morris, who will be the youngest ever driver to compete at Le Mans in 2006.

1000 - Motor Racing Legends Race - features 3 Lotus 9 cars for this one hour race, which will be pitting themselves against Le Mans cars from 1935- 1955, including Jaguar C and D type's.

1200 - Classic Cavalcade, the Elise GT1 will be leading the Cavalcade given that it will be the fastest car there, with Lotus also represented by the Lotus 9 of Colin Chapman, a 1956 Lotus XI and a Lotus Elite.

1600 - main race kicks off and for this year at least, no Lotus cars!
