sorry to be thick, but elise mk1 wouldnt start this morning after all the rain. I have been informed its probably because the alternator has got damp. I have been advised to remove the cap and dry it off and spray some good olde WD40 in.

being a novice, is it easy enuff to remove the cap or is it in a really awkward position (typically lotus)?

(i havent had chance to get the manual out yet)

cheers

Dead easy - it's mounted on the end of the inlet camshaft.

Edited to add...I think you mean distributor cap, by the way!

Held on by a couple of bolts/screws, but to be honest I can't remember if you'll need a screwdriver or a small socket.

Either way, try not to drop them - I expect they'd be a bugger to fish out of the undertray if you did!
