Hello, I'm looking for some assistance. I am trying to find a T handle and the ratchet housing for the hand brake in the Elan. The cable has been fitted which is a twist and release version. Unfortunately I can't seem to find the parts from suppliers I normally use. Were the parts I'm looking for used on any other make of vehicle i.e Ford so I can expand my search. Many thanks

The "twist to release" version was also fitted to the Europa but I'm afraid I don't know the donor car. If you find out, please post !

The alternative and more common lever with the white button release was a Lotus modified part from the early Mk1 Cortina. If you could find one of those it should fit, my 1968 S3 has this type of lever. I'd guess the one on your car is an upgrade by a previous owner ?

The umbrella levers were usually fitted to cars in the 50s/60s when they had bench seats at the front, so I'd be looking at Ford Consul, Zephyr, etc from that period.

Twist to release : Cortina 1600e : referenced in http://www.motorsportmagazine.com/archive/article/...
or Consul/Zephyr/Zodiac : referenced in http://www.classicandperformancecar.com/ford/consu...

(don't ask me where to get the parts).

Thanks for the info, I'd never have guessed the 1600E.
