Lotus 40 History?

FAF Performance Inc are now in possession of the Lotus 40 that we featured in 2000. They're trying to document the history of the car and establish whether it's the real thing!

The car at the moment has a dummy 289 cobra motor with a DS25 transmission and has been thrown in for show.

If you know anything about the car or know anyone who may have worked on it, please let us know as FAF would like to get the car back on track and restored to its former glory.

Hey Daniel , I own FAF Performance in the USA , we race cars for a living and restore and prepare them for clients. We currently own two race teams ,Simpson FAF Motorsports and JCI FAF Motorsports and compete in the FIA GT series in Europe , we also compete in the HSR Series over here with a Porsche 935 and Ferrari 348 LM and two Alba Ferrari prototype cars.
I have spent all my life with race cars including ,Jordan ,Porsche and time served at Hethel.

Hopefully somebody will be able to help us out with the 40 , we need to get rocking and rolling on this one !!!

Gentlemen
A good website devoted to the lotus30.40 is www.lotus30.com the 30 that the people own is the ex British John Markey Pink Stamps Special. Kirk has a lot of history to the cars.

Thanks Mickj...I have already contacted them, but this one appears to be the "mystery Machine"...Foyt is unhelpful as usual ,but speaking to Dick Hutcherson has put us on the right course, this may well be the HM car or Colin Chapmans prototype GT40 car...all will become clear soon I hope

Thanks Fafspeed for your answer and good luck for the restoration and the search for history of the car. Do you intend to get it in historic races after the restoration?
In any case let us know the progress!
Thanks also to mickj for this good link.
