Just a quick one.

With manufacturers coming out with new versions of classic iconic cars it got me thinking about which cars Lotus could revive (along with the Esprit, I hope).

With a new version of the GT40 on the road maybe its time for Lotus to bring back the poor mans GT40.... the Europa!

Or better yet bring out a modern version of the series 1 Elite!

Classic Stuff!

How about the classic Baby Elan Sprint - let's face it, the Mazda MX5 has been around since 1990, and that was/is heavily based on the retro-styled Baby Elan. The 60's versions still handled incredibly well even by today's standards.

In terms of Europa, Banks Service Station do a modern Europa - your choice of engine with modern brakes, gearbox, suspension etc - I know someone who has one of these, and they tell me it's very very fast indeed (they also have an Esprit V8, so it must be quick by comparsion for them to say this).

A modern derivation of the Elite/Eclat/Excel would be good - ie not necessarily the looks (which tends to leave people polarised between love and hate them), but more the concept of a Lotus that (just) fits in more than 2 people - maybe finishing off what the M250 nearly achieved.

The more I hear about Banks Europa's the more I want one!!!

Do you know what options your friend has chosen in his?

You would happen to know how much he spent on it would you?

The looks of the Excel/Eclat range are definately not to everyones tast but they do make a bold statement on the road.

I'm pretty sure it's a Europa 47R, with a 2 litre twin cam/16V Vauxhall engine & gearbox - with all the other mod's (brakes, suspension etc) it just sounds awesome.

I have no idea on cost though - I get the feeling not much change from £30,000 but it's a guess
