New intake launched for Elise and Exige

Pipercross' new air intake means more power and better sound

Pipercross has launched the Velocity Intake System for 2004 Lotus Elise 111Rs and Exiges (1.8 VVTL-i). The company reckons its benefits include:

  • Air filter relocated to side intake pod
  • Aggressive sporting induction note
  • Wider power band
  • Dense cold air intake

Product details

The Velocity intake system is designed to maximise the torque and power produced by your engine.

While the bhp gain is important, this system's tuned length, similar to the tuned length of a performance exhaust, will give a broader power band. Giving you increased power, over a greater length of the time. This tuned length of carbon fibre also relocates the air filter into an area of cold air. The cooler dense air carries more oxygen to you engine, more oxygen mixed with more fuel will give a reliable increase in power.

This intake utilises the Pipercross Vector power cone with a unique foam make up, using the same technology in Formula 1 and the World Rally Championship, Maximises air flow with the ultimate engine protection.

The carbon fibre pipe made from Aerospace quality pre-impregnated carbon fibre, that incorporates a proprietary thermal barrier layer in its construction. The system's use of various fibre composites is geared specifically towards keeping the INSIDE of the intake tract as cool as possible.

Compared to the original air box, the V.I.S kit shows increased air velocity of over 40 per cent. The V.I.S dynamics are a great improvement on the stock system, thanks to a specially textured inlet surface, that results in better throttle response and drivability.

Hi all

Has anyone had one of these fitted?, if so what was the effect to the power range and overall BHP?, any conclusive proof of improvements?
