I meant to quiz the owner but got distracted. It's got a Shelby badged V8 in it - that much I did establish.

Hello,

This Europa LM350 was on display at Donington last year and also came at Stoneleigh Lotus shows. It has a Banks 62R body style, a Ford V8 5.0L engine with a Porshe gearbox and a highly modified chassis " a la" 47.

You can see pictures on my website at :

Try www.banks-europa.co.uk looks like a type 45 or 62S, Banks do new chassis and body kits and they look pretty well finished. Just looking at one myself as teh whole bike engined kit thing is a bit common now and I fancy something different.

There is a classified page on Banks website where there are several cars and parts for sale or wanted. Try this link :

Thanks Daniel,

Was reading through the Banks site but had not made it to the 'pinboard' yet.

Any rough ideas what values are for Europa's, in various states of condition?

Everyone seems to be wanting a Europa, not many for sale. That popular or just getting very rare now?

Any idea what this might command (posted on LotusEuropa@yahoogroups)........

"New galvanised chassis, new brake pipes, NG3 5 speed gear box, adjustable suspension, big valve 130 engine. Rebuilt 5,000 miles ago.
New clutch, waterpump, stainless stell exhaust, new steering rack.
The car starts and drives, 56,000 miles.
Whats it worth?
1975 special, original colour white, reg no GRN 398N"

Thanks.

Hello
I have put a price guide (including UK prices)on my website. You can find it at :
http://perso.club-internet.fr/dherrero/cote.htm

As for the car you describe, it's difficult to say how much it is worth without having seen it (as always...). I am a bit surprised by the words "starts and drives" according to all the mechanichal jobs that have been done. I would have hoped a little more than this. The body and cosmetics descrptions also are not precises enough to give a price.

Which model are you looking for and in which condition?
There are not plenty of Europas for sale but it is possible to find one easily enough in UK, it's just a matter of patience.

Try the Club Lotus also, it's a good source for Lotus for sale.

That Ford V8 is a bit over the top although I have always longed to build a replica of the Europa modified during the 60s by GKN to take a Buick (now Rover) V8. The rear deck and chassis were lengthened a bit and it had wider than standard wheels but otherwise looked standard. Bet it went well compared to the original Renault engine.

The GKN 47 is famous for the Europa afficionados. It was built by GKN to show their expertise and used a V8 Rover as you say. The engine was later uprated to 4.4 liters and the car performed very well. It is being restored, see this website :
