RE: M250 Binned
Discussion
What went wrong with the M250 ?. I heard that at one time there were in excess of 1500 deposits. If Lotus can develop the 340R in such small numbers, why could they not produce the M250 when the demand was four to five times higher ?. The reason they have given about Global Markets is poor as I imagine that most deposits were UK based. I think that the devlopment o the Elise S2 and Vauxhall VX220 soehow got in the way. I also think that Lotus could not achieve the performance and price target. Remember the Elise was supposed to a Max of 575KG. The 340R was supposed to be Max 500KG. Neither achieved their targets. If the M250 crept towards the 50K price without the anticipated performance there would have been many viable alternatives; Boxter, Noble, TVR
