Has anyone looked at the July UK car sales numbers released last week? Lots of good news on the market being up. But in the data is a dark cloud. Lotus sales for July? Down 62% year on year. Sales year to date? Down 62%. Most everyone on this website will be huge supporters of this brand and what they represent. But with huge uncertaintly on ownership, funding, strategy, and management, what is its real future?? Echos of TVR?? If there is one car manufacturer which has defied gravity for the longest and dodged many eclipses, it's Lotus (Aston a close second?). But, in this business you can't live with sales down 62% for long, and its hard to believe the export markets are hoovering all those unsold cars up. Does it have one more Houdini act in it?
