What problems did the early v8's suffer from and what year did they get better ?

Leaking piston liners is probably the worst thing to affect some of the ealy v8s.

98-on cars get improved wiper linkage, improved dash design, twin plate clutch (although most 96/97 cars have had this retro-fitted) improved gear linkage, remote alarm, revised anti-lock system.. AND on the SE - a rear spoiler that does not block your rear view!

You lose the ability to fill the car from both sides however (only one fuel filler cap).

All V8 Esprits have the twin plate ap clutch. They were all reworked.
