Yes you might have a number of cars on order, but if you LOSE money on every car you sell then that's nothing to crow about is it!

In Short your next Lotus will be built in China !

I don't know your agenda but your obvious desire to see Lotus fail is now becoming as boring as it is baffling.

This site is for petrolheads - I can't see why it would be if benefit to anyone interested in cars in general, and specifically sportscars with that kind of heritage, for Lotus to fail and be no more.

Let whatever is happening behind the scenes happen, and keep fingers crossed for a good outcome for Lotus and the guys in Hethel.

Personally, they must have something going for them, because I would rather own my Lotus than anything Audi/BMW/Porsche/Nissan make. The main reason I dislike Lotus's recent plans is that they appear to be moving towards making cars more like those of the manufacturers you mention.

There is a difference between not making enough money to pay the bills and losing money on every unit sold. My understanding is that their problem is the former.

Here we go again an old acronym that has nothing to do with the current day product, and why do you view it as a Fight? Lotus is a niche product you either get it or you don't and clearly you don't.

Ironically, Lotus is currently celebrating its 60th anniversary since the company was formed by Colin Chapman in 1952, but not for the first time in its chequered history it finds its future in the balance.

Be very careful making statements like that that are based on non emotion, the world will be a poorer place without Lotus - I spent 3 hours at the weekend driving a brand new top spec, powerful Audi A6 from the South of Ireland to Dublin Airport (after very little sleep the night before) How glad was I to get out of it and hand it back. Beautifully appointed, superbly build, comfortable, well equiped and efficient - but just missing any sense of occasion. I was just tired and wanted to get home.

How glad though I was to climb into my TVR Cerbera at Stansted Mid Term Car Park a couple of hours later - Not much kit, not built very well, 15mpg at the most - but god did I love the drive home, and how disappointed was I then to have to put it back in the garage after driving it through the night, no longer caring about the tiredness.

As a day to day car based on non emotional decisions then yes Audi/BMW/Porsche & even Nissan

As a toy for a midnight cross country blast hmmm Lotus for me - how sad it will be if it goes the same way as TVR. Part of driving for pleasure died in 2006 with TVR, the same will happen again if Lotus goes under.

Totally agree.

When I bought my V8 Esprit last year, I checked out many cars including Maseratis. The maser 4200 is a fine car - but little or no involvement or emotion. That is something you get with Lotus or TVR etc.
Let's hope this all gets sorted for the better and if nothing else shuts up these idiots who have no experience of a Lotus.

PMQs today -

I'll reserve judgement on whether this is a good or a bad thing.

And to second V8FOU - I've had two V8 esprits, 8 years of ownership and never been let down on the road. Plenty of expensive routine maintenance and admittedly some pre-emptive work (new turbos at next months service for example as the originals are rotted to buggery) but both have been ultra reliable and my current ride is definitely a keeper, even if I do get the new one, if/when it appears........

Info on the Youngman 'deal', from Lotus themselves -

http://skiddmark.com/2012/04/lotus-speaks-out-abou...

On the face of it, nothing too mysterious. But nothing in this ongoing saga would surprise me at this point.
