I thought you might be interested in this:

To mark the 50th Anniversary of the introduction of one of the most celebrated car designs of the British motor industry, the CSCC will hold 2 races in 2012 for all models of the original Lotus Elan.

The races will take place on the Grand Prix circuit at the Brands Hatch Lotus Festival on 18/19 August 2012 and at the CSCC’s Donington Park meeting on the weekend of 15/16 September 2012.

All standard, 26R and +2S derivatives will be welcomed; cars with FIA papers are eligible, as are club and modified cars as long as they have the original silhouette and original type mechanicals. The races will be 30 minutes long for single drivers, and the cars will run on List 1A or 1B tyres.

CSCC Competition Director commented,

“We have a number of Lotus Elans that race very successfully with us in our existing “Swinging Sixties” series and they are very popular cars both with Drivers and spectators and, of course, the Lotus Marque is one of the most famous names in world motorsport. It’s absolutely right that we celebrate the introduction of a car that is rightly regarded as one of the best performing cars ever produced. Elans were very successful race cars and often performed outstandingly well against other, sometimes more exotic, machinery in their day.

We hope to get a grid of 35 to 40 cars, and the invite extends to the many continental Lotus Elan owners, some of whom already race with us when we go to Spa and the Nurburgring. The fact that the first race takes place as part of the Lotus Festival at Brands Hatch should add to the attraction".
