I've just been offered one, for what I think is cheap money - but can anyone more informed help me out?

It's got a freshly built engine (which needs fitting) and all other ancillaries.

I'd be grateful to hear from someone more informed than myself on these motors as I really do fancy it, but would struggle getting it past the fiancé unless it was a bargain.

Cheers

An original Europa or the Elise based one?

Hofmann's do a wide range of upgrades for the Elise based one, and have produced a couple of race cars based on them - one which Chris Randall runs himself and at least one customer car.

They ran them in the Brands Hatch 1000km this year and took 1st and 2nd on the grid, but had some issues during the race - fuel tank pressurisation on Chris's car caused a flash fire during refuelling and after the second time they retired the car. Can't remember what took the other one out of the race though.

Sorry, completed forgot about the new Elise-based ones. In my eyes there's only 1 type of Europa!

It's an original one I've been offered. Fully prepared in race trim and a bloody good looking vehicle I reckon. Just not sure what kind of money these command on the open market as I know they're not massively popular in road-going trim.

I believe it's a 47 as the headlights are enclosed. It's been modified though as it wears the very pronounced front valance and includes a fully welded cage, dry sump, fuel cells etc with a stack dash and so on.

Very good looking car but as I've only really ever seen them in road trim (which I thought looked bloody nasty) I've never bothered to research them.

Freshly built engine by Europa in Southport, Merseyside.

It sounds like a Banks 47 as opposed to a real 47 - if so then a quick call to Richard (who it very much sounds built it and the engine) would be the best start as his cars are so varied in spec that there are no set figures for values.
