Mate of mine collects odd cars and for about 7 years he had a Europa in his front garden.

he paid around £900 for it with a knacked engine (amongst other things)

never found the parts for the right price so stuffed it on e bay recently

When I tell you he is Welsh, you will understand his utter disbelief when it sold (and was paid for) at £7000

is this the right price or am I missing something ?

Its worth what someone is prepaired to pay. But what ever you are missing, I am missing it also.

Depends whether it was one of the Twin Cam engined versions.

If it was, then fully and properly restored it will be worth upwards of £20K and the Japanese go mad for them (they're more popular and valuable in Japan than an Elan Sprint, even), so it would be a viable and potentially profitable project.

If it was one of the Renault engined versions, then someone has paid way too much for a restoration.

It's the wrong type of Europa for this forum though - you should have posted in the 'General Lotus Stuff' forum, really.

Just found out today that there is a new one

Obviously I meant the old one

I see a L/H drive one on e bay needing work for £12,995 so I guess there is still a market for these.

Nice looking car as well

Did I push it up to £7k? Wow!;)

Fell in love with all things Lotus in the mid 60s and then one of my Dad's colleagues bought a Europa - I'll never forget driving my Elise home and looking to the centre of the steering wheel - 'I've got a Lotus, a Bloody Lotus!'

My 1972/73 Europa Special in JPS trim went to Hong Kong - they like them there as well.
