Either Garry Kemp or Mike Taylor would be good starting points. Garry is well known for tuning the 9xx series, and Mike rebuilds the 9xx series and runs them in his own rally cars.

Can't find contact details for Garry at the moment, though he's in East Yorkshire. Mike runs http://www.lotusbits.com/

Add to those already mentioned, Phil Davison at Ravic who built all the works teams engines, Phil Seaman at Seaman Motorsport who prepares Joss Ronchetti's car and Dave Wills.

(I'll add some numbers later when I can get to them unless someone beats me to it)

http://qedmotorsport.co.uk/ is also worth a look for engine parts, as well as some of the long standing specialists like Paul Matty and SJ Sportscars

nice one.
with respect to the 2.2 in the lotus sunbeam, are there any major failings to watch for?
also interested in experiences/info on Seditas Motors in Prestwick as i'm looking at lotus sunbeam that has had an engine rebuild by them apparently.

I'm not an expert on the 9xx series as used in the Sunbeam - better to talk to these guys, I think http://www.sunbeamlotus.com/ (they're a nice bunch, we usually end up next to them at the Club Lotus event at Donington)

looking at the qed website they have comprehensive spares lists for the twin cam and then the 900 series engines, is that the one mentioned?

If you look after them the engines are pretty reliable, but watch for wear in the cam belt tensioner which can allow the belt to walk on the pullies, never start one with the clutch depressed as the thrusts drain and dropping the clutch loads dry bearings up and spits them into the sump - there is a mod to feed them more oil. If you intend to do any track work the sump baffles will need some tap doors added as they can be too efficient and starve the pickup - speeding the flow back to the pickup chamber is vital.

As said above join the club, get on our forum and ask the questions, members have done pretty much everything from buy them new to rally them on current WRC stages

The Twin Cam is the Ford block based engine used in the 7, Cortina, Elan(s) & Europa. The 900 series is Lotus' own used in Jensens, Sunbeams, Elite, Eclat, Excel & Esprit.

thats very helpful. i would probably do the odd easy trackday to have a play with the handling so it might be worth asking if that been done. its had a recent rebuild with tensioner etc about 5k ago at a place in scotland. http://www.seditascars.co.uk/Index.html
