Excel Help an Info please

Hi All,
Jus parted with me 350i and have come across a friend who has aquired an 88 89 Excelwith a 2k price tag or there abouts , I dont want to go in blind I know nothing about this Marque at all other than "Loads O Trouble Usualy Serious" that come out of the green eyed monsters at the local, got the same with the TVR not a minits bother with that.
So please any were to look , wot to listen for , wots expensive etc would be a great help.

Can't really off much help on the buying side, I was given mine and it's only done 30k miles.
Have a look at www.lotusexcel.co.uk as there are many buy threads in the discussion.
If it's 88/89 then it's be an SE with the 175BHP engine. 2k sound a good price if it's in good nick.
Check the cam-belt and it's tension, and all the usual engine checks.
Every Excel is different as are TVRs, so best is to take it for a spin.
Mine cost £1500 to get back on the road after being stored for 12 years, but since then (18 months) it's cost me oil and a filter. It should also run on plain unleaded as they were designed for the american market.
If you're at PF this weekend, come and have a look at mine. I think it'll be the only one there.
