Lotus is finally adding lightness to its product lineup, becoming the first car manufacturer to make and run karts, the first stepping stone for a driver to top-flight motorsport.
The whole point, says Group Lotus, is to discover some new young talent from the young-guns talent pool that is karting. The past three Formula One World Champions got their start in karting, and getting in on that game should help Lotus out in a big way. They're fielding two new chassis, "Colin C30" and "Jimmy C32" through a factory backed team, Jefra Racing, based near Treviso, Italy. Expect to see the karts themselves unveiled at AUTOSPORT International in January
