In a 1969 lotus seven is it wise to replace the center rubber bushing with a urethane one? My fear that it will be too hard on the bracket. However as it is, the rubber bushing needs often replacement due to the differential fluid leaking.

Urethane is too stiff, IMO; the Lotus Seven A-frame bush has to be allowed to twist with relatively little resistance to accommodate roll.

If you must get rid of the rubber bush, do it properly and fit a spherical joint.
