Lotus elan sprite
Discussion
It's a Lotus Elan Sprint you're looking for.
If you haven't already done so, get yourself over to LotusElan.net.
Be warned that prices are rising fast, though - I made a 50% profit over about 4 years when I sold mine last year - and turning a dog-eared example into a presentable and reliable car is not for the inexperienced, so if your father isn't a dyed-in-the-wool Lotus man, you might be better looking for a really good quality car to start off with (which will be reflected in the price).
Paul Matty Sportscars are worth keeping an eye on, as they're well respected as a specialist dealer and get some nice cars through.

No, but that sounds like a plan... one of the fibreglass replica frogeye shells fitted with a shortened Spyder spaceframe backbone and a K-series engine could be a quick little car.
Was the Donington car fibreglass? If not, it would seem an odd conversion for a normal, metal-bodied Sprite, since its a unitary chassis.
