Replacing t piece fuel connector on Europa Special (1972/3)

I wonder if any of you have found a satisfactory method of replacing the plastic T Piece which connects the twin fuel tanks of a Europa TC or Special (the part in question is item 12 in the diagram below). The T Piece tends to fall to bits when used with modern unleaded petrol, and I am looking at replacing it with a metal part or some ther arrangement.

Demon Tweeks do metal T-pieces and adaptors, you could make something up from there. Failing that I'm sure Banks would have a solution.

Demon Tweeks have been very quick and have sent some bits and bobs already, so now I only have to polish up my swearing skills, as no doubt fixing the thing will be a faff.
