Good point - with German plates on it could be a Rush ?

Yep, you're right, you are miles out as the plate has the blue section with the EU stars on it and what looks like the letter D

Usually am,I put it down to age(senility) so the car is possibly an Irmscher 7.smile

It's not a Lotus, or a Caterham.
Ze Germans have a habit of calling anything Sevenesque, a lotus Seven. Fail....

As others have said, it is quite categorically not a Lotus of any shape, form or description.

People can (and do) put Lotus badges on just about anything that vaguely looks like a 'Seven' (and some things that don't - I've seen both Duttons and VX220's with Lotus badges added).

The Lotus badge is meaningless.

At least a VX220 went down the same production line as an Elise, so it's as close to a Lotus as you'll ever get without actually having a Lotus badge on it.

True enough, but I still thought it was rather sad (and a little bemusing, to be honest) to come across a yellow VX220 parked up on Tewkesbury high street one day with the Vauxhall badges removed and more Lotus badges than were ever seen on any genuine Lotus spattered all over it. I mean, why? If you're that fixated on the marque values/image, why not just buy an Elise instead?

confused

COST!

There is nothing wrong with the VX bar it ugle cousin syndrome next to the elise and the fact it is a little heavier.
