Fuel tank above the engine? That'll warm the fuel nicely! Not my cup of tea at all.

Ah yes, my mistake. Am I wrong about it being a dog's dinner? I don't think so. But I guess it's in the eye of the beholder!

well, I can agree that its a bit 'bolt' or strange, I look at it as a work of art, alu art, just like a lot of modern art I do not like, although I like this Lotus Europa based one, never seen a Europa based car so changed, never would come on the idea of this when thinking of a Lotus Europa :-)

Yes, I like it somehow, and I also agree, it looked a bit strange in the picture with the tank, it was a bit confusing :-)
I see those raw aluminum cars as a work of art, something you could park somewhere near a bench and look at its shape/form.

wow, just wow, ok it can do with some new refreshment in the interior and some other things, but look at it...

a Lotus Europa S2 Ford V8 1969 GKN 47D special, no idea were the original 47D is after some pictures in old books I have, but this is nice, ok they need an exhaust change for a better V8 sound and a fresh tune and so on, but hey... Uber cool this thing.

also look at the windscreen wiper on top :-) cool, maybe also functional?

way more here at bring, probably gone within 4 hours...>

yes, nice for a Europa, I bet if you want to build one like that again and another one have to do the job, its gonna double that at least is my guess.

the body work, the chassis work, paintjob and so on, some garage prices (hours) are almost silly those days.

I would love something like that, also such sort ala type 62 what that UK specialist made, no idea if they still in business, but they did a lot with Lotus Europa ah Banks Europa.

I never forget one of the first Lotus Europa model 72? I ever saw in the wild, I was biking together with a friend from school, I guess I was 12-13 or so? and we spotted a purple Lotus Europa in the place were we lived, was from a guy visiting his parents.

ah it was one like this one but LHD same, it looked like from another planet hehe loved it, sadly no phone or camera those days, otherwise you saw me with a big smile next to that car hehe

I'm a big Lotus fan, and serial Plus 2 owner, and used to adore the Europa as a small boy (JPS poster on the bedroom wall, etc.) but, now, I'm afraid they do nothing for me.

That scallop in the top of the door frame always looks so awkward and the interiors are uninspiring and cheap looking, ..even for a Lotus!

Glad they exist but it's a no for me.

I'm skirmishing with the idea of a road Lotus. I've got an Elan GTS race car and mildly contemplating and Elan road car, a +2 or a Europa. I've got a Caterham that will need to go, so must get back to the idea and get it done. I love the look of the Europa, just whenever I look at one on the flesh, I'm not sure! I used to be indecisive by the way!

Couldn't contemplate one with a V8, that doesn't work for me at all!

@ lottobear, the door frame looks indeed a bit awkward, no idea if that the same with the Banks models, slipped my mind.

a multi plus 2 owner, nice, always liked the Elan say mk3-4 FHC more, but lately I must say the Elan plus 2 lines grow on me, its class/style? and I guess could dive better? more GT? the the Elan FHC? no idea only seen them, never driven one (yet)

@BertBert, sounds cool, thats a FHC Elan I guess? Lotus dealer vd Kooi in the Netherlands also races those things or have raced those more in 26R look, light fast nimble, love those.

But I never forget that special purple Europa, but I get what you guys think, I one took a sit in one at the lotus dealer, and thought hm... narrow pedal box, but hey you can bent those a bi and some other things I forgot, then I thought hm, not clear if I really really want one...

If so then it must be a special one, one maybe ot original...
I long looked at one in Polen I believe, a black one with audi turbo engine, good power and the interior was lovely, thats what I liked most of it.

ah here it is>

^^ Absolutely 100% Lotus Europa. I've never been a fan of the earlier "high buttress" body style, typically associated with the Renault engine.

Undeniably Lotus construction and boat construction had a great deal in common. Look at fibreglass cars from the Eclat/Esprit era and you can see the bodies are one boat turned upside down on top of another, with a horizontal join all the way around.
