Have I made a potential error?

I was hoping to bring two vehicles should I decide to use my permanent residency visa which I have ( & which has 4 years left for me to be living in oz )

Just realised you can only bring 1 vehicle in on your name but both are in mine.

Will they allow my wife to bring the second car even though she is not named on the V5? ( UK registration document )

What about things like lawnmowers, trail bikes, jet ski's?

Do you have to have owned them for 12 months prior also?

Thanks for any advice?

Thanks reading the lenghty Government document, It says in your name!

Therefore I assume;

I have two cars currently with V5"s in my name.

I believe I can only bring 1 vehicle with me then as that is the limit per person.

Am I reading this correctly?

seems harsh my wife cannot bring the family motor she uses daily & has for over a year because the V5 was in my name & not hers?

How often do the women go out source & buy the cars?

Not often in my case.

Anyone that has similar experience I would appreciate the benefit of your experience.

Thanks

I had two cars registered in my name in the UK but transferred one into my wife's name over a year before shipping both to Oz as a Personal Import, just to make sure. However I do remember reading somewhere on the website of the entity that administered Personal Imports that they will exercise discretion in a case like yours. You should email them with the full story and get their response before making decisions. Good luck.

Thanks ukdennis.

That was my fear, as I would not wish to delay my plans waiting for a further 12 months.

Will contact the authorities & see if they will accept my case as stands.

If anyone knows there email address it would be appreciated or maybe they respond to calls only?

Thanks Anyway.

PS

If I could only bring one what would be the best to bring downunder assuming living in a city & not the bush.smile
Range Rover Vogue TDV8 3.6 or a Porsche 996 Turbo S Cab?

Would love to bring both.

The email reply I received from the Aussie authorities maybe of future help to others.

It was in my case.

In relation to your email, You can Import one vehicle each under the Personal import scheme, though the vehicle is register under your name as long as you support the application with the marriage certificate is fine.

In order to import vehicle into Australia you must obtain an import approval. To obtain an import approval you must qualify under one of our schemes.

I recommend you read the attached information brochure to see if you would qualify under any of the schemes.

Information on Importing Vehicle.

Lawnmower does not require Import Approval.

Outboard engine does not requires Import Approval.

Is the Inflatable boat on a trailer, if yes you do require Import Approval please read information on page 10.

Off Road Bike requires Import Approval please read information on pages 25-27.

Good to see that they will let you, normally they play it straight by the book. Good luck with it.
