Having just returned to Australia after a brief trip to the UK life is looking good. It seems that the economy is doing well, people are maintaining optimism and life here is pretty decent on the whole.

I'm unsure if this is just a bubble so wondered how life is for all you other Aussie's?

(p.s this isn't meant to be a pro-Aussie uk bashing thread!)

Yup, pretty good here as well, thanks for asking.

Work generally busy, daugther in year 12 and getting into it, wife enjoying (well most of the time) teaching, weather great now the rain has stopped, car running relatively OK, our new to us house OK (although starting a mortgage at 43 is NOT ok) blah, blah, blah.

Dont miss home (London/Cirencester, UK) much at all really. Although I do think about a nice pint of Directors, owning a sevenesque kit car every now and again, but hey cant have everything.

Good here too.

Busy at work and getting busier by the day, just bought the other half a vw beetle which she loves, daughter enjoying school (year 7 so just started senior school) and just bought a house too. So it's all good.

Just wish car prices were cheaper, but we can do alot more things here than back in the uk, our income is by far more than we earned in the uk too. Oh, and the sun shines a lot more biggrin

After a trip to KL, I have decided I prefer sub-tropical to tropical so will be staying in Aus. A number of my friends will disagree though.

Life is awesome, very comfortable and very settled here. I used to miss he UK terribly but I dont even think about the place any more. It is not the place I call home.

Meh, Boutique Aussie beer is pretty damn epic so I don't feel the need for a British ale all that often. Most independent bottle shops sell a heap of imported European beers though if you are really desperate.

Kit cars are a bit more expensive here than in the UK but there are a few options to look at and it can be done for $30K or there are used ones around starting at $20K.

Loving it here too, ok it has been a rubbish summer on the whole with all the rain but business is booming, have got a garage full of toys that I couldn't easily keep in the UK and the other half has completed the private pilots license a while back that wouldn't have been so do-able in the UK.

Swimming pool in the back garden is hovering around 28 degrees and the fridge is keeping the beer at 3 degrees. What more do you need to remind you why you moved? smile

Hi All

Looking to purchase some land this weekend down near Braidwood. 100 acres for around 60-80k with a hut on it and a few sheds to hide the toys.

Apart from the heat of the last month, things are going not too bad.

Cheers

Well I'm still stuck back in the UK for another 5weeks and I know where I would rather be. This place is so depressing right now. I managed to pick up a short term contract at Heathrow and have been trudging round the M25 for the last 4 weeks through road works that are being worked on by that most mysterious of British public servants, the council road worker. Apparently they are so shy they only come out at night! Well they must boody do because they sure as heck ain't working any other time.
Did I mention the weather......! biggrin

Life is ok, been here 10 months and still miss Dubai, a lot. Obviously a completely different way of life here but think if I was without my family I'd go back to Dubai in a heartbeat but I understand here has a lot more to offer in terms of raising a family.
